Beginners Gentle Hatha will include some standing asanas (poses) that will warm the body up and some restorative poses that collectively will balance mind and body. The Asanas teach poise, balance and strength that will prepare the body and mind for restorative poses and meditation. Pranyama, breathing techniques, will be incorporated to promote stress relief, peace and tranquility that can be used on and off the mat in daily life. Class ideal for beginners or advanced practitioners. No previous yoga experience necessary!

Mindful Yoga Class

MINDFUL YOGA

Mindful Yoga is a mindfulness or awareness-based practice centered on the recognition of the interconnectedness that exists between of our mind and our body. It is a blend between an adaptive and gentle hatha yoga and mindful meditation. By practicing Mindful Yoga we are able to access the multiple potential physical benefits of yoga (such as flexibility, balance, posture and strength) while developing the natural skills of our mind (such as awareness, attention, and concentration). The focus of the class is on how we are doing rather than on what we are doing, allowing us to find awareness and acceptance in the spaciousness that lies beyond stillness and movement. By attending to the simple but profound experiences of our breath, the sensations in our body, our thoughts, and our emotions as they are in the present moment, we are better able to access our own wisdom not only on the mat but in our lives. In this way, by practicing Mindful Yoga we are ultimately training ourselves to address the reality of our daily life with more compassion and respond to its challenges from a place of love, inner and outer balance and stability. No previous yoga experience necessary!

Warm Yin Yang Deep Stretch

Yin/Yang Yoga combines yin yoga with a flow practice. The yin portion of our practice focuses on a release of connective tissues and cultivation of observance, breath, and meditation as we surrender into postures for longer periods of time and open ourselves to the release of deeply held, stagnant energy. We then move into a short, gentle flow that allows us to integrate this openness and awareness into a sense of steadiness and alignment in our body.

LADYBUG YOGA (Kids ages 5-12)

Ladybug Yoga is a unique children’s yoga program for children 6-12 years of age. The program helps develop important skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. The goal is to nurture a child’s inner strength and self-acceptance while encouraging and challenging them to develop strength, coordination, a sense of calm, self-confidence and much more!

Class for those starting yoga, getting back to Yoga practice, or revitalizing current practice for fresh insight.

  • learn to connect with body through breath and movement with opportunity to calm the breath and watch the mind
  • explore breath basics like Ujjayi breathing or alternate nostril breathing.
  • discover posture basics through spinal alignment, posture variations and modifications, step by step pose breakdown, how to avoid common mistakes, prevent injuries and learn to access poses with confidence
  • class always includes warm up, sun salutations, core standing postures, balance poses, twists and backbends, and concludes with relaxation in Shavasana
  • develop healthy Yoga practices for body, mind and spirit in a comfortable welcoming supportive environment
Hatha Flow Yoga

This is a Hatha Flow style class. It incorporates correct alignment in each pose, meditation, breathing techniques, and posture to create a positive flow of energy throughout the body that will improve your concentration, challenge you physically, and create peace of mind. At the end of this Hatha yoga session you will feel energized, relaxed, and happy.

Vinyasa Hot Flow

VINYASA HOT FLOW

All levels welcome!

This Heated Vinyasa Flow is an energizing and invigorating class that improves strength and endurance. In this class, the poses are linked together with the breath. The class flow involves more fluid movements and students will explore breathing techniques and more challenging poses such as inversions & arm balances . Alignment direction is given for the poses, but students are encouraged to listen to their own bodies and do what they feel is appropriate and safe for themselves. All the poses can be modified as needed for the individual. Don’t be intimidated! When you’re ready, give it a try. This class will be invigorating and full of fun!! Recommended for students with previous yoga experience.

Prenatal Yoga Class

PRENATAL YOGA

The Prenatal Yoga class at Weston Yoga is designed specifically for pregnancy by a Registered Yoga Alliance Instructor. You will experience safe stretching, breathing techniques and strength building exercises that will increase your energy, stamina and develop concentration for labor and delivery. This class is conducted in a calm, peaceful environment that will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing. Where working out is great, this yoga routine has many physical benefits. It’s a comprehensive workout using whole body strength while building lean muscle mass and flexibility. Yoga Sculpt will help to build endurance as your heart rate increases. Awareness of your breath will help you to adapt and focus in intense situations, and to mentally stay “in the moment.” This routine will also build strength using your own body weight as resistance as well as increase the muscle groups that incorporate balance for injury prevention.
